Discontinued in 2005 in favour of the replacement G6, the Pontiac Grand Am is in sell-off mode. Only the coupe is available for retail sales; sedans are strictly for fleet sales. The sole change for 2005 is a new Greystone Metallic exterior colour.
All Grand Ams are powered by a 3.4-litre V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, and come in one trim line, the GT. It’s fairly loaded one, including air conditioning, cruise control, leather-wrapped wheel, tilt wheel with audio controls, power windows, power locks with keyless entry, cloth seats, 70/30 folding rear seat, CD player with eight speakers, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and traction control.
Expect to see heavy discounts on this car; it should be possible to take one home for much less than MSRP, as dealers just want to get them off the lots. You’ll have to take what you can get as far as colours and the few available options go. If you can swing a really good deal, go for it and pocket the savings, but the replacement G6 is a better car.
The Grand Am is built in Lansing, Michigan.
